Have you found yourself dealing with unwanted thoughts that make you feel awful, and no matter what you do they keep coming back? Maybe you are afraid to talk about them with somebody in fear that they will think bad of you or of something bad happening? And yet this is keeping you stuck. You want the dreadful thoughts to go away, you want to feel better, you want control over your life again. I understand how hard it can be to live with the demands of OCD, and I know how to help.
Parents/ Caregivers
Are you feeling helpless because your child has so many fears and worries, and nothing you do or say to reassure them that everything is going to be okay is ever enough? Maybe you are worried because they repeat the same behavior and are unable to stop when you ask them to? You want them to enjoy being a kid again; going to school, hanging out with friends, participating in activities. I know how hard it can be to parent a child with anxiety, and I know how to help.
Tracy Lewis LICSW, MSW
For the past 25 years I have worked as a Social Worker in a variety of settings. While doing this, I helped several of my own family members suffering from Anxiety and OCD access effective specialized treatment and supported them on their journey to feeling better. This led me to want to help other people going through this. For the past several years, I have focused my professional development on understanding, assessing, and treating anxiety and related disorders (OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Ilness Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Phobias).
I am also committed to understanding and challenging racism within myself, my community, and larger systems.
Therapy
At Together Anxiety and OCD Treatment, people receive evidence-based specialized treatment for OCD and related disorders. My primary approach to treatment is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, more specifically Exposure Response Prevention ERP and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ACT. These approaches involve guiding individuals to lean into fears and uncertainty through exposure and resisting rituals. It is through this process that anxiety/distress begins to feel more tolerable and decrease. I make sure that we go at a pace that is not too overwhelming, but allows for growth.
I have also recently been trained in Inference-based CBT and offer it as a treatment option for those suffering from OCD. For more information regarding ICBT go to www.icbt.online.
